As no one else feels able to launch this thread, I decided to start it... Let's discuss the next season. A lot of interesting questions lie ahead of us:

1. Will Klinsi be successful at Bayern München? How will they perform in the Champions League, will they buy Gomez, what will happen with Schweinsteiger...

2. How will the 1. FC Köln perform with Daum?

3. Will Bremen finally survive the first round of the Champions League? Will they get Podolski?

These and many other questions are proof that this is going to be a very exciting season. So let the discussions begin!

Speaking of Prinz Poldi, I read somewhere that Christoph Daum may want to try getting Podolski back to Kölle. But with Würstchen-Uli and Kalle saying categorically NO, who knows if it does going to happen. One thing is for sure: Going to Bayern has been the worst mistake EVER done by Lukas Podolski.

I also heard in a radio interview last week that Daum said that they can't pay the money Poldi would cost, he added that "ausleihen" would be an option but he said that he doubt that the Bayern officials would do that.

You can go to Bayern when you are a super-star like Toni or Ribery, you can also go to Bayern when you want to be second choice and make a shitload of money without working much (like Butt did), but you definitely can't go to Bayern when you are a young talented player in the early 20. You won't play much there, Schlaudraff is the best example, he switched to Hannover where we will see him definitely more frequently on the field than in Bayern.

Cool. One problem is that I'm required to enter an address in Germany, so what I'll do is enter my old address from Hamburg. Hopefully I can still change that if I do win anything.  

EDIT: I did use my PO Box in Costa Rica as address, it didn't give me problems.

I just got the Sportbild newsletter and they're saying that Bayern will release Lukas Podolski for a minimum of €15 mio, this information is supposed to appear in their subscription ePaper and in tomorrow's print edition, so I can't post a link on it. That's definitely too much for Kölle. Then again, there's the possibility of English clubs bidding for Poldi's services, and the big ones (ManU, Arsenal, Chelski, Liverpool) could certainly afford him, though the question is are they willing to pay €15 mio for a Bankdrücker?

That second question is really the key. I hope Klinsi can finally shape a good CL fighter out of the FC Hollywood. If I see another domestic double and early-Heimreise CL season, I am gonna puke. If there's something the world doesn't need, it's another Meisterschaft noone's really happy about.

Finally survive? We didn't do so bad in the past. Survived it twice and one time we only failed because of the killer group with Barca and Chelsea. In financial terms, Werder is a pretty small club. Don't forget that. I think overall, we coulda done worse.

Old shoe. This debate was already going on last year. Allofs even suggested a trade between Klose and Poldi. But Hoeness doesn't go for it and he won't do it this year.

I'd love to, but I won't have much time this season to keep track of everything since I am moving to Madrid for studying this fall. Keeping my fingers crossed for Real in our CL group!!  Smile

Amen! Can't believe how many players do the same mistake over and over again. Not only shooting stars in their early 20s. Common sense anyone??? Latest example is Tim Borowski. I give him two years of bench frustration before he goes to Hannover 96 or similar for 150,000 Euros.

IMO only if it's some crazy-russian-run club like Chelski with an owner who goes on a shopping frenzy. Yet that wouldn't help Poldi too much cause he'd be a Bankdruecker there as well. What he needs is a medium-sized club with international ambitions such as Werder, HSV, Stuttgart or a similar foreign club. Back to Köln would be too much of a step backwards. And speaking of Aufsteigers: will be interesting to see how the Bored Billionaire Club Hoffenheim will do.

This reminds me of Torsten Frings's shortlived intermezzo at Bayern.

I would like to see Podolski play for Werder. He could definitely reinforce the offensive department as both Mittlestürmer and in the offensive midfield with Diego next to him (though that depends if Diego will get out of his long lasting Formtief and if he sticks around). Werder would simply be perfect for him, he'd play in a great environment, Thomas Schaaf could push him to the edge (and I guess Poldi wouldn't mind being pushed to the edge for a match) and work some of his magic with him, to make Poldolski an even better player, and there are so many other aspects of the SV Werder where he could become a Führungsspieler and a Stütze. The problem is that Werder wouldn't even consider paying €15 mio for one player, and that's what Kalle Rummenigge and Würstchen-Uli want for Podolski.

Amen! The situation with Swiss players is even more pathetic. There are many talented young players who keep falling into this trap of wanting to play for a big club as soon as possible. Over and over, only because they have the impression that they might be "the" exception.

Football fever total in Dortmund at the moment, some things I noticed lately:

- The B1 in Dortmund is full with Kloppo posters:



- There was a massive queue infront of the "Geschäftstelle" on Monday afternoon because a lot of people want a season-ticket:



- The BVB sent Warsteiner to hell, that means that you get decent beer (Brinkhoff's No. 1) in the stadium and not that Warsteiner piss:



- 9.000 fans watched the first training this afternoon!

They said today that the 44,444th season ticket has been sold today. Great to see from Dortmund, their fans always seemed to have great sense of loyalty to their club, unlike the blue people from Gesindelkirchen.
